Including Market Visit

Group or private

Enjoy an unforgettable day in the capital of gastronomy as you combine the pleasures of strolling the markets, choosing ingredients, composing a menu, preparing an authentic French meal, and savoring the delicious result with hand-picked wines. Depending on the day of the class, the market tours can take place on la rue Montorgueil or at le Marché des Enfants Rouges. Paule has shopped at both for years and goes straight to the best and friendliest suppliers.

Cooking classes are taught in Paule’s contemporary home kitchen, located in an easily accessible historic Marais building. With no more than eight students per class, you will relish an experience that is personalized, friendly and fun.

Classes start at 9:00 am with an open-air market tour, followed by a hands-on cooking class and a four-course lunch, finishing around 3:00 pm. Each class includes a cheese tasting, along with discussion and explanation of the subtleties that make France’s fromage so unique.

Private only

A total immersion and insight to Parisian life combined with a gastronomic experience. After a traditional coffee “sur le zinc”, you will be guided through a traditional food market. You will discover products and specialties - learn about season, region and use.

After going to the market to purchase the ingredients cook a French meal and savor a memorable lunch in a private Parisian apartment. In a friendly atmosphere, all together, you will peel, cut, mix, bake ... a starter, main dish and dessert. Your chefs don’t just teach, they share. After a deserved aperitif, Champagne & appetizers, we will enjoy the delicious end products and savor the tasty dishes. And of course, as wine is a part of a traditional French meal, particular attention will be paid to the selection of wine.

Available Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday – 1:30-3:30pm

Our tour takes you into the “laboratoires” (back kitchens) of a boulangerie (bakery) to meet the masters and watch how they hand-make top quality gourmet foods.

This is undoubtedly one of the most authentic pastry class in Paris. Class is taught by chief patissier-boulanger(baker), inside his popular Eiffel Tower boulangerie’s back- kitchen. You will learn to create 4 of his best-selling cakes and pastries in a fun and interactive way, while discovering his tricks-of-the-trade. Simultaneous English translation(by an American cooking instructor) guarantees that you understand every word, as well as asking all the questions you want. Take home his recipes and baked treats.

Private only

The kitchen is the perfect place to create family memories.

We will arrange a private pastry class for the family to join our ‘gourmet mums’ in their kitchen and share their passion for cooking and kid-friendly recipes. In the warm and cozy atmosphere of a private apartment, the growing gourmets and their parent will bake traditional French recipes.

The baking class lasts 2 to 2 1/2 hours, just enough time to cook 2 or 3 bakery goodies (madeleines, financiers, sables, tartelettes...). After cooking, all the chefs share a ‘gouter’,- fruit juices or hot chocolate for the kids, tea or coffee for the adults - with their yummy creations. They will be able to take away the fruits of their labor in a basket along with a recipe book.

During a 3 hours class, learn to make chocolate macaroons and madeleines in a private kitchen.

You will learn all the steps and tips so that you can bake macaroons back at home – you will make the meringue and the ganache. You will also bake another traditional French recipe – the madeleine. Beverages will be available – coffee, tea or fruit juice. You will be able to take away the fruits of your labor, a leaflet with the recipes and a list of gourmet shops in Paris.

BREAD & BREAKFAST – The Secrets of a Baguette

- Behind the stage of a traditional bakery.

In a non-tourist area of Paris, visit the workshop of a bakery, meet the baker, learn the secrets of French bread and make your own bread. While your bread bakes in the oven, have a breakfast with coffee, orange juice and a croissant.

After this “bread and breakfast”, you can visit a food market or participate in a baking class.

BREAD & BREAKFAST + Food Market:

Visit several food shops : chocolate, honey, olive oil, cheese .. includes 2 tastings.

Duration: 2-2 1⁄2 hrs.

BREAD & BREAKFAST + Baking Class:

In a private apartment you will prepare 1 savory & 1 sweet recipe – quiche Lorraine & madeleines. The participants leave with the fruits of their labor.

Duration: 3hrs.

Our market classes consist of a visit to a local market to discover the seasonal ingredients and fresh produce.

Learning how to select fresh products is the first step to good cooking and good eating. Meet local merchants to whom you are welcome to ask questions and overcome any apprehension you may have about shopping in French markets. Back at the school we will have a brief discussion about the day’s menu and the ingredients, you will be provided with an apron and have a quick reminder on how to handle a knife safely. Following the hands-on cooking class we sit down together to eat what we have prepared: a 4 course meal including starter, main course, dessert and cheese to be savored with a nice bottle of wine.

Class duration – 5-6 hours.
